Snoop Dogg’s gotta say this is a good day.

A jury found Friday that the rapper wasn’t at fault for injuries a Seattle man suffered at a 2005 concert when he tried to get onstage while Snoop was performing, clearing the 39-year-old Doggfather of assault and battery allegations.

The panel did determine, however, that plaintiff Richard Monroe Jr.—who sued in 2006 claiming he thought he had been invited onstage, only to be jumped on by Snoop’s entourage once he got up there—had suffered major injuries and should be compensated.

Record label Doggystyle Records and Soopafly, another of the performers Snoop shared the bill with, have been ordered to pay Monroe nearly $449,000 in damages for medical expenses, etc. The plaintiff had been asking for at least $22 million.

Snoop Dogg has told jurors he did not strike a fan, who is suing him for $22m (£15.1m), with a microphone with a knuckleduster-style handle at a gig.

The artist, real name Calvin Broadus, said he went straight to his tour bus after Richard Monroe Jnr jumped on stage and was challenged by security.

Mr Monroe has told the Santa Monica court he was “left for dead” by security at the 2005 Seattle gig.

A 12-person jury must decide if Mr Broadus should compensate Mr Monroe.

Mr Monroe says that, as Mr Broadus launched into his hit, Gin and Juice, he thought the rapper had called on fans to get up on the stage.

Lawyers for Mr Broadus have said Mr Monroe should not have gone on stage and that security staff thought the rapper was being attacked.

Taking the stand in his ongoing civil trial, the hip-hop star testified Monday that he did not hit plaintiff Richard Monroe Jr. with a brass knuckle microphone during a 2005 gig in Seattle.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, said that he feared for his life when Monroe, who’s suing the rapper for $22 million, hopped onstage—only to be swarmed by Snoop’s bodyguards and other rappers, including fellow Los Angeles-area native The Game.

Snoop performed at the Our World Live event at Hollywood’s Avalon nightclub last night (April 8, 2009) and showed he has been inspired by working on the country legend’s remix record.

Introducing “My Medicine,” his Johnny Cash inspired rap-infused country track, he said: “Country musicians are just like us. They smoke weed, get drunk, talk s**t, go to jail. But they just wear the little hats.”

Eminem was rumored to be joining Snoop at the show but pulled out because he was busy in the studio.

Snoop Dogg has been refused entry into Australia.

The rapper failed to pass the country’s strict character test, which considers criminal convictions, and his visa has been cancelled.

Snoop, who was due fly to Australia to co-host the MTV Australian Video Music Awards on Sunday (April 29, 2007), has 28 days to contest the decision.

Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews told Sydney’s Macquarie Radio Network: “He doesn’t seem the sort of bloke we want in this country.”

“This man has been a member of a Los Angeles gang, and is still associated with it apparently, that’s been involved in murder, robberies and drug dealing in the Los Angeles area.”

MTV are currently in discussions with immigration officials to overturn the star’s ban. MTV managing director Dave Sibly said: “We’re putting a lot of energy in to making a case for how popular Snoop is and the fact he’s been here before without incident.”

“We’re hopeful that when people tune in to MTV at seven o’clock on Sunday, they’ll see Snoop on the red carpet.”

The 35-year-old hip-hop star received a warning after overstaying his visa by two days when he visited Australia in February.

Snoop - real name Calvin Broadus – was recently given five years probation and 800 hours of community service after pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in the US.

This is the second time this year the rapper has been barred from entering another country.

Last month, he was forced to scrap the UK leg of his tour with Diddy after being denied a visa, following a brawl in London’s Heathrow Airport last year.

Earlier this year, the rapper was interviewed by Swedish police on suspicion of using illegal narcotics after performing in Stockholm.

Snoop’s lawyer, Donald Etra, said he had not heard about his client’s refused entry into Australia and could not comment.

The rapper entered the plea in relation to charges of the sale or transportation of marijuana and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

Snoop was handed a five years’ probation period, a three-year-suspended sentence and 800 hours of community service.

The 35-year-old star – who also agreed to make public announcements against violence – could have been jailed for four years.

Judge Terry Smerling laid down the conditions of Snoop’s probation at the Los Angeles court hearing yesterday (April 11, 2007).

The star can only spend 400 hours of his community service working with the youth American Football league he helped found.

The judge also ruled Snoop must provide authorities a DNA sample and he must have a medical permit if he uses marijuana.

Snoop’s lawyer Donald Etra said the rapper-and-actor smokes marijuana because he has migraines and has a medical permit under state law. If Snoop violates his probation he faces three years in jail.

Snoop’s arraignment has been set for today (04.11.07).

Snoop Dogg says he was shocked at being denied a British visa this week, although he remains hopeful authorities will allow him to “share my message of love and harmony.”

“I was shocked by the decision but am optimistic that the British authorities will soon realize my global efforts to promote peace and grant me the opportunity to come back for my fans,” the rapper said Wednesday during an interview for the documentary “In Prison My Whole Life.”

The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has been touring Europe with Sean “Diddy” Combs. The duo was forced to cancel British dates after authorities denied the visa.

Segments of the rapper’s interview were released Thursday by a publicist for actor Colin Firth, who is producing the documentary on death row inmate Mumia Abu Jamal. The interview with Broadus had been scheduled for London, but was filmed in Amsterdam instead.

Legal troubles are not new for Broadus, who was also barred entry into Britain in May 2006.

In April 2006, he and five others were arrested on charges of violent disorder and starting a brawl after a fight erupted when members of the rapper’s group were denied entry to British Airways’ first-class lounge at Heathrow Airport.

The case was later resolved when police said Broadus accepted responsibility and they declined to take further action.

The artist was heading to a party after a concert in the Swedish capital when police stopped the car he was riding in around 1:30 a.m., said Matts Brannlund, of the Stockholm police. He said Snoop Dogg and a female companion showed signs of drug use and were taken to a police station.

“He was deemed to be under the influence of narcotics,” Brannlund said.

A small amount of narcotics also was found in the car, but Brannlund could not specify which kind of drug and he said it was unclear whether it belonged to Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg was released shortly after 5 a.m. but could face a fine if his drug test comes back positive, Brannlund said.

In Sweden, which has some of the strictest narcotics laws in Europe, minor drug offenses are punished with fines.

For a feast of onion bhajees, chapati breads, biryanis, pappadums, a specially prepared fish dish and vegetables on the side, the bill will top $3,900, plus travel and accommodation for the restaurant’s head chef.

The meal was requested for West and seven guests by a music promotion company, the restaurant said Sunday. The company had previously ordered food from the restaurant near Cardiff, Wales, for an after-show party for a Snoop Dogg concert in London.

But this is different. Normally, they don’t deliver outside a 3-mile radius of the restaurant, which is about 150 miles west of London.

“I was horrified when I heard about this request because of the distance involved,” said the restaurant’s head waiter, Tarik Mohammed. “It’s a long way, and our reputation is on the line. We are doing every thing to make sure the food gets there safely and every thing is aboveboard.”

The meal will be prepared, cooled, shrink-wrapped and packed in dry ice in the British Raj’s kitchens and — along with head chef Kaysor Ahmed — will be helicoptered from Wales to London’s Heathrow Airport on Tuesday.

From there, the chef is to hop a flight to New York — monitoring the food’s temperature all the way — clear customs, and head for Manhattan, where the meal is to be served during a meeting Wednesday.

The fee was arrived at by estimating the restaurant’s takings for two evenings, the time Ahmed will be away, Mohammed said.
