It’s not a matter of talent, but a matter of shape. Selma Blair of Hellboy fame is shunning her slim and athletic figure for an added ounce of flab. Her new role in the comedy Kath and Kim has pushed Blair towards the side of snacks and sweets.

The 36-year old actress revealed that her character for the sitcom is a chronic nibbler. Being a little out of shape is something new for Blair, so she had to cut back on her exercise routine to really tune in to the role of Kim Day.

Selma Blair proves just what actors will do to get in character. “Some bad things are happening underneath my clothing,” she revealed. She also referred to a little wobble that she’s been experiencing.

As Kim, Blair will have to squeeze into clothes that are three sizes too small for her. The annoying and self-centered Kim was recently separated from her husband and decided to live with Kath, her divorced mother. Kath will be played by Saturday Night Live actress Molly Shannon.

“My character’s really in a state of arrested development,” added Blair. “She’s in her clothes from the seventh grade, and she thinks that’s hot.” The actress also said that it’s absolutely fine for her to shape up (or down) for the role. She even has to feast on fistfuls of Tiny Teddies and nachos to boast of her pudgy waistline.

Based on the hit Australian TV show, the American version of Kath and Kim will be produced by NBC. The network has risked ordering 13 episodes already, and has planned on airing the sitcom with other established hits. Kath and Kim will be on the NBC comedy block with The Office, 30 Rock and My Name is Earl.

Selma Blair and Molly Shannon will be joined on the cast by John Michael Higgins, Mikey Day and Tony Yalda. Kath and Kim will be aired on NBC this fall, October 9 at 9:30pm and will continue to be broadcast on Thursdays.

Selma Blair has been told to ”take an acid trip” by Guillermo Del Toro.The filmmaker advised the actress – who stars in “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” which is directed by Guillermo – to take hallucinogenic drug LSD to help “fix her head” because she is always negative about herself and never admits she is talented.

She told Arena magazine: “You know what Guillermo thinks? That I should go to Amsterdam and take an acid trip and it would fix my head. I think he could be right you know.”

The actress hasn’t yet acted on his advice, but won’t rule out experimenting with the substance.

She added: “I’ve done some things to excess but I hate pot and I’ve never done acid or ecstasy.”

“But if I was in the right frame of mind, in a pleasant, creative, chilled-out space, with just the right amount delivered by an Amsterdam technician that would be incredible.”

Selma Blair is ‘’shocked” by how many of her friends have lesbian crushes on her.The actress, who famously shared a steamy kiss with Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Cruel Intentions,” insists she has never had any lesbian experiences in real life – but is constantly fighting off advances from women.

Selma – who also filmed same sex kisses for “Feast of Love” and new movie “Driving Lessons” – told Playboy magazine: “I have done three girl-on-girl kisses on-screen. And, yet, I’ve never experimented in real life.”

“When lesbian friends tell me they’re in love with me after our friendship has been cemented, it always shocks me.”

Last year, Selma revealed she practiced her lesbian sex scenes in private with “Heroes” star Stana Katic.

Selma – who plays a lesbian again in “Feast of Love” – said: “We rehearsed our love scene quite a bit in a private room together.”

“We both looked at the bed, looked at each other and walked into the room and went at it.”

Selma Blair’s sister taught her how to use a gun.

The “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” actress has no problem handling firearms in her movies because she became familiar with guns from a young age.

She said: “I’m from Michigan so I’m a tough girl. But my sister is even tougher. She is a cop and was on the SWAT team for 11 years. She taught me everything I know.”

“I’m really good with a gun – my sister always taught me a lot of gun safety and everything because they were around the house.”

She said: “The first time I had to do a scene like that with Ron I did not know if I could touch him, if it would ruin the make-up. I had never worked with a prosthetic love interest before.”

“But it felt completely natural and normal and I forgot that I was talking to a man in make-up. I actually really enjoyed it.”

“And I’m like, ‘Where are you guys looking?’ And everyone else says, ‘Oh, it doesn’t matter – no one can see our eyes.’”

“And I said, ‘Oh, my God, everyone can see my eyes, it really matters where I’m looking, what I’m doing, I have a face, I have a face …’”

“There was a moment of terror, like ‘Oh my God, I’m going to c**p all over this movie – I’m going to be the mess.’”

Hollywood actress Selma Blair steers clear of the Hollywood club scene – because Los Angeles party-goers always assume her outspoken ramblings are those of a drunken woman.

The Hellboy star – who reportedly spent a spell in rehab last year – admits her wacky personality often leaves “polished” L.A. revelers convinced she’s inebriated.

However, Blair insists her verbal outpourings are sober ones, and blasts those who are narrow-minded enough to think otherwise.

She says, “It’s true. People think I’m drunk even when I’m not – which is why I don’t go to clubs in this town. I say whatever I think and most people don’t know what to make of it.

“It’s not always cool. I prefer it when someone is not afraid to look like a fool. That’s the kind of guy or girl I want to hang with. Someone not so polished.”

After a lengthy search, Hollywood actress Selma Blair has been cast to play Tiny Teddy-loving Kim in the US version of the Australian sitcom, Kath & Kim.

NBC, the network with the US rights, had cast Saturday Night Live comedienne Molly Shannon as Kath last year, but had trouble finding the right actress for Kim.

Blair, 35, starred opposite Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde and Cameron Diaz in The Sweetest Thing and will reprise her role this year in Hellboy II: The Golden Army, the sequel to 2004’s hit comic book adaptation, Hellboy.

NBC, which has had great success with a US version of UK sitcom The Office, has struggled to put its version of Kath & Kim on air.

NBC picked up the rights to the TV series 12 months ago and there were plans to shoot the pilot mid-2007, but the original choice for Kath, another Hollywood actress Joan Cusack, dropped out.

There was a change in scriptwriters and now the screenwriters’ strike has stalled production.

Kath & Kim’s Australian creators and stars, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, will serve as executive producers.
