The “Girlfriend” singer – who announced she was separating from the Sum 41 rocker last week – spent a month partying on oil heir Brandon Davis’ yacht in St. Tropez, South of France, and sources say the pair have grown very close.

One is quoted by gossip blogger Perez Hilton as saying: “She was downing shots, drinking booze from the bottle and play-fighting men on the beach. She wasn’t acting like a married woman at all.”

However, sources close to Avril insist she and Brandon are “not involved romantically” and are “just friends.”

Last December, Deryck warned Brandon – who has also dated Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton – away from his wife after he discovered the pair had been for dinner together.

He texted Brandon, saying: “Stay away from my wife.”

Even though their three-year marriage is over, Avril has vowed to stay friends with her estranged husband. In a statement on her website, she said: “Deryck and I have been together for six-and-a-half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21.”

Doug apparently rented a private island near Fiji for the two of them earlier in the week in an attempt to impress Paris, who’s no stranger to receiving expensive presents.

If Paris Hilton’s attached to something, she wants it to be “as big as it can be.”

What the heiress meant, when she testified Friday in federal court, was that she did her best to promote the lackluster, straight-to-DVD 2006 comedy Pledge This!, but that she could only do so much for a movie that wasn’t that great in the first place.

“If I have my name attached to something, I want it to be as big as it can be,” Hilton, who is being sued for breach of contract by an attorney who represents the film’s investors, said in court Friday.

“It could have been a lot better if it was done more professionally. I wanted it to do as well as possible,” she said.

Hilton and BFN (Boyfriend for Now) Doug Reinhardt will spend 17 days getting to know the culture, the mores and the lucky ladies vying to befriend Paris before she heads back to Los Angeles to make the final choice.

Unlike previous installments, this round will not feature alcohol, bad language or skanky outfits. So it could just be watchable.

When they’re right, they’re right. Looks like Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt (leaving LAX Friday night) weren’t lying when they told us the reason for all the ruckus at their home a few days back was because they got a prank call saying Tinkerbell was roadkill on Mulholland Drive.

LAPD officers were called to their rental home in the Hollywood Hills after neighbors heard what sounded like a loud argument. Our law enforcement sources say Paris and Doug told them about the crank call. Doug told cops Paris freaked out and was screaming and he was trying to calm her down.

Nonetheless, neighbors want them out … so badly, someone is willing to give the landlord a premium if he pulls the plug on their lease.

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt are lovers, not fighters.

Reports that the PDA pals got into a screaming match on Reinhardt’s driveway last night are “not true at all,” Hilton tells E! News exclusively.

Rather, the celebutante claims, someone made a prank call and said her prized pooch was in trouble.

“We got home from the party last night and someone prank-called me and said that my dog Tinkerbell had been ran over,” she says. “They said Tinkerbell is dead—we just found it on Mulholland Drive.”

In addition to the doggie drama, keys to Reinhardt’s home were nowhere to be found.

“We couldn’t find the keys to the house,” Hilton says. “While Doug was looking for the keys, I was screaming on the phone. I’m on the phone crying calling my mom. Obviously I’m going to be crying; she’s like my daughter.”

Luckily it was all a hoax.

Reports that Paris Hilton’s house party got busted are totally wrong.

TMZ reports that the heiress threw a bash Monday night, and after angry neighbors called the cops to complain about noise, über-pricey cars parked in the neighborhood were egged by party guests.

Turns out the house in question is Doug Reinhardt’s and Paris says her own Bentley was vandalized as well!

“This is ridiculous,” Paris tells E! exclusively. “We had nothing to do with this. My blue Bentley was egged and I even filed a victim’s report.”

Police were indeed called to Doug’s house twice that night…so what really happened?

Despite his mouth injury, the night had some positives for Doug.
