A girl-driven horror flick featuring a hypnotic performance by Megan Fox and the wicked dark smarts of writer Diablo Cody, Jennifer’s Body aims to be a cult classic, and should be crowned as one.

The Bigger Picture: Jennifer’s Body gleefully jumps over gapping plot holes and shoves characters into implausible situations—but no matter! Everyone here is having way too much fun to care. The movie has the darkness of Heathers, the edginess of Mean Girls and the absurd gore of Little Shop of Horrors. In other words, it’s tailor-made for screenings at midnight and slumber parties.

Here, Jennifer is the Megan Fox of her high school: an envied, desired sex kitten. Her bestie is a bookish, clingy, goofball nicknamed Needy (Amanda Seyfried). Needy exists in the world of pigeon-chested boys and algebra homework, whereas Jen spends her time in nightclubs and bars seducing the men of her small town. (Why they’re friends to begin with does get explained but is one of the story’s weaker points—flashbacks to the sandbox where the girls built their unlikely bond.)

When an indie band, in requisite eyeliner and skinny jeans, comes to town, bad things go down: The evil band boys abduct Jen (Adam Brody plays the delicious lead singer) though she manages to escape. Curiously, her rapacious desire for boys is still intact, and we discover that what she really craves from men is their blood!

The new Jennifer unhinges her jaw like a snake and tears into boy-flesh with her teeth, then she scoops out organs for snacks. Needy is also in danger, as Jennifer’s appetite “goes both ways.”

But there’s a savory second layer to the flick: the dynamic between the two girls. Their sexually fraught friendship feels entirely natural, instead of some horror flick gimmick. Cody’s story accurately captures the hormonal soup of teenage girlie friendships, the scramble of seduction, competition and compassion.

And the ladies are electric: Seyfried’s performance is sincere and skillful, but Fox is the pulsating motor of the movie. She’s a wickedly comic vixen who uses her natural sexual charisma as a prop instead of crutch.

The movie may not please large audiences—the violence, the sexuality, the overall campiness—but it could easily captivate a core of new Jennifer devotees.

Über-hottie Megan Fox got oodles of good bad press recently when she compared her Transformers director Michael Bay to Hitler (and said sundry other crazy things).

But now a few crew members have decided to teach the Jennifer’s Body star a lesson by giving her more publicity, in the form a long open letter posted on the Transformers site. It’s pure genius of the moron kind!

The crew’s A-game is name-calling. They call her “dumb as a rock” and the “queen of talking trailer trash and posing like a porn star,” not to mention “grumpy” and “thankless, classless, graceless.” And on and on and on.

The public spanking letter was ultimately yanked down by Bay (but you can read the whole thing here via PerezHilton.com). But the director went on to show the crew nerds how these things are properly done, posting on the site:

“I don’t condone the crew letter to Megan. And I don’t condone Megan’s outlandish quotes. But her crazy quips are part of her crazy charm. The fact of the matter is I still love working with her, and I know we still get along. I even expect more crazy quotes from her on Transformers 3.”

Now that’s how you transform bad publicity into something good.

Whelp, she recently told Wonderland magazine, “I constantly struggle with the idea that…I’m a borderline personality, or that I have bouts of mild schizophrenia.”

She then called her director “endearing” and “like Hitler” in the same interview. Of course distinguishing “crazy” from “crazy hot” requires an actual visit to a shrink. But psychiatrists still had a few insights based on Megan’s behavior…

First things first: If Megan thinks she has a mental disorder, she needs to see a mental professional, although airing her musings is quite riveting as far as free entertainment goes.

“Whenever you see snippets in interviews, it’s hard, if not impossible, to say, ‘That’s an Axis 1 disorder,’ ” says clinical psychiatrist Dr. Paul Dobransky, referring to serious mental conditions. “That said, she definitely doesn’t have schizophrenia. First off, when that happens, it’s more often to women in their late 20s, and Megan is 23. And she’s so highly functional that wouldn’t even enter my mind.”

So what about something closer to a mere personality disorder—narcissistic disorder, just, you know, say? Again, not necessarily likely, Dobransky tells me. There’s nothing in that interview that even comes close to indicating such a thing. In fact, based on the quotes above, Megan may actually be demonstrating she’s—get this—pretty healthy. Young women her age often express a desire for growth and normality, and voice a curiosity about where they fit into all that, Dobransky explains.

By airing her inner thoughts on this kind of stuff, Fox may be oversharing, sure. But she also has displayed “the process of general psychological maturity,” Dobransky tells me. “This fits her psychological development and maturity level. It sounds perfectly healthy and age-appropriate to me.”

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

She’s beginning to make the press rounds before the release of Jennifer’s Body, and the actress already released a sarcastic PSA to drum up some attention.

Megan took home the Choice Summer Movie Star surfboard last weekend at the Teen Choice Awards, and will be able to please her fans again when her movie hits theaters on Sept. 18.

It’s true, everybody! You can’t have too much of a good thing.

Especially when that good thing looks exactly like Megan Fox. And drops wild nonsense in interviews, and walks around wet, and totally bends over in big dumb movies about robots, and then makes ballsy acting choices.

The “Transformers” star – who is regularly voted the world’s sexiest woman – wants to be known for her acting skills rather than her stunning looks.

She told Empire magazine: “You can’t be a sex symbol 24 hours a day. I can’t be a professional celebrity or a professional sexpot. I can’t do that to myself. I just want to work and make the right choices, and study and develop as an actress.”

“I don’t want to be on the cover of every magazine that exists. I want to try not to do that. It’s my job to show people something different.”

Although she is keen to distance herself from sexy roles, it was recently revealed Megan is tipped to be the next Lara Croft.

The 22-year-old actress is said to be favorite to portray the dare-devil archaeologist character in the new “Tomb Raider” movie.
