Kelly Clarkson is like a ”colorful Charlie’s Angel.’

The 26-year-old singer – whose new single “My Life Would Suck Without You” has topped the Billboard Top 100 and the UK singles chart – has ditched her old rock-chick image, and claims her new image is the reason for her newfound success.

She said: “Everyone has been trying to put pink on me since I started seven years ago so now I’ve given in.”

“I was always dark before but now I’ve embraced a new colorful Charlie’s Angels kind of superhero vibe – except without the super powers. It seems to be working.”

Despite making some changes to her image, Kelly recently claimed she has never felt pressurized to lose weight.

She said: “She said: “I feel very fortunate coming from ‘American Idol’. I was the biggest girl in the group.”

“I’ve always been thicker and millions of people voted for me. People are born all different shapes and sizes. People like me this way.”

Kelly Clarkson wants to duet with Adele.

The “My Life Would Suck Without You” singer has revealed she would love to sing alongside the “incredible” Adele.

She said: “I love coming to the UK and picking up new music. I hope to do something with Adele. I love her voice so much, she’s just incredible.”

The 26-year-old singer also admitted she is obsessed with British pop star Annie Lennox and is also a big fan of her Eurythmics bandmate Dave Stewart.

She added to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “I adore Annie Lennox, she’s such a strong woman. It’s no secret that I’m pretty much obsessive about her.”

“I also met Dave Stewart a while back in Los Angeles, so who knows maybe we can do something together one day.”

Kelly – who is currently topping the UK singles charts with “My Life Would Suck Without You” – says her upcoming album “All I Ever Wanted” has been influenced by the popular 80s duo.

She explained: “One of my new songs is like an Eurythmics meets Killers dance thing called ‘If I Can’t Have You.’”

Kelly’s fourth album “All I Ever Wanted” will be released in the UK on March 9.

“I want to set the record straight on this by saying that I want my band, my advisors, those close to me and my record label to be one big, tightly knit family,” the 25-year-old singer said Monday in a statement posted on her Web site.

“Like any family we will disagree and argue sometimes but, in the end, it’s respect and admiration that will keep us together.”

For months, Clarkson has weathered — and also fueled in candid interviews — reports of a battle with Davis, who oversees her record label, RCA, over the direction of “My December,” which was released June 26.

“A lot has been made in the press about my relationship with Clive,” the former “American Idol” said in her statement. “Much of this has been blown way out of proportion and out of context.”
“Contrary to recent characterizations in the press, I’m well aware that Clive is one of the great record men of all time,” her statement said. “He has been a key advisor and has been an important force in my success to date.”

Clarkson, who co-wrote every track on “My December,” gives Davis kudos for releasing the album when he wasn’t obligated to do so.

“I really regret how this has turned out and I apologize to those whom I have done disservice,” she said. “I would never intentionally hurt anyone. I love music, and I love the people I am blessed to work with.”

A spokesperson for Davis didn’t immediately respond Monday to an e-mail from The Associated Press seeking comment.

“My December” — which has yet to produce a hit single — is No. 5 on Billboard’s 200 top albums chart; it arrived at No. 2.

Clarkson’s first album, 2003’s “Thankful,” sold over more than 1 million copies. The multiplatinum “Breakaway,” released in 2004, cemented her status as a bona fide artist outside of “Idol” with hits including “Since U Been Gone” and “Because of You.”

Clarkson, 25, doesn’t take romance lightly.

“I am very old-school, conservative in my thinking when it comes to relationships,” she says. “Love is something you work at. It doesn’t come easily. There are going to be bad days. You are going to have to work at loving someone when they are being an idiot.”

She adds: “People think they’re just going to meet the perfect guy. Don’t be ridiculous.”

Marriage and motherhood aren’t in the cards for Clarkson — not right now, anyway.

“My point of view is that I shouldn’t be a mother at all, because I’d be horrible,” she says. “I’m not willing to be that selfless.”

Her comments speak to the singer’s frankness, which makes Clarkson stand out from many of today’s publicist-protected pop stars. In recent weeks, there have been headlines about apparent battles between Clarkson and music mogul Clive Davis over her upcoming CD, “My December,” due to be released by June 26 on RCA Records, a unit of Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Clarkson has said those reports were exaggerated.

On Tuesday, Us Weekly and People magazine both reported that Clarkson had cut ties with her manager, Jeff Kwatinetz. A representative for Clarkson referred all calls to Kwatinetz, whose office declined to comment when contacted by The Associated Press.

In her interview with Elle, Clarkson discusses the difficulties of taking control of her career.

“I’ve sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I’m 25 and a woman,” she says.

“I am a good singer, so I can’t possibly be a good writer,” she continues. “Women can’t possibly be good at two things. I haven’t lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I’ll just work harder.”
