Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in rehab.

The Irish actor is believed to have checked into an English treatment facility to seek help for his alcohol addiction.

It has been claimed bosses on “The Tudors” spoke to Jonathan about his alcohol intake while filming the TV show’s upcoming third season.

A source said: “He is one of the nicest guys in the world, he’s a pleasure to work with. He has his demons all right, and he’s trying to cope with them as best he can.”

This is the third time the 31-year-old star has spent time at a clinic.

In 2005, he attended Promises in Malibu – where Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Tara Reid have also been treated – and returned for a second stint in 2007.

Jonathan recently prompted concerns for his health when he was spotted looking disheveled while purchasing what appeared to be a bottle of vodka.

He has previously spoken about his battle with alcohol, saying: “When I do drink I’m like Bambi. I’m all over the place, hopeless, like a 16-year-old kid. People notice.”

In November 2007, the star was arrested after a drunken row with airport staff in Ireland.

Days later he was seen walking down a London street drinking a can of strong cider. It was later revealed he was struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother.

Scarlett Johansson preferred kissing Penelope Cruz to Jonathan Rhys Meyers.The blonde beauty – who announced her engagement to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds earlier this year – admits the highly-anticipated kiss for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” was more pleasurable than she thought it would be.

She said: “Everybody wants to know what it was like. Penelope had less facial hair than a guy so it was certainly more pleasant. It was better than kissing Jonathan Rhys Meyers in ‘Match Point.’”

“Kissing him wasn’t that bad, but he did have to stop and shave in the middle of a scene even though he’d shaved that morning. The man has really got some beard on him!”

Scarlett – who has worked with Woody Allen on three movies so far – also revealed she would “do anything” if it meant she could work with the esteemed director again in the future.

She added to Parade.com: “I worship Woody and I’d do anything in one of his movies.”

The 23-year-old actress said she has learned a lot about herself since she started dating “Definitely, Maybe” star Ryan.

She said: “I’m so fortunate to be in a very solid and comfortable relationship. I’m in a good place in my life right now.”

“I’m a really big believer in loving yourself before you can give love to somebody else.”

“The healthiest and most inspiring relationships are the ones where you’re so comfortable with the other person that you actually learn more about yourself that you could never appreciate before.”

The British actor – who played Scarlett Johansson’s lover in Woody Allen’s “Match Point” – is to be treated for alcoholism.

Meyer’s representative, Meredith O’Sullivan, said: “After a non-stop succession of filming, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol-treatment program. He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery.”

The 29-year-old is currently starring as British monarch King Henry VIII in Showtime’s TV costume drama “The Tudors.”

He recently began filming “August Rush” which co-stars Keri Russell, Terrence Howard and Robin Williams.

His representative added: “Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion.”

Meyers – who denied romancing Scarlett off screen – has been romantically linked to Toni Collette, “She’s All That” star Rachel Leigh Cook and is said to be in an on-off relationship with heiress Reena Hammer – daughter of make-up artist Ruby Hammer.
