Another day, another breakup rumor for Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri.

US Weekly reported this morning that the couple has split after almost seven years together because they are “polar opposites [who] were never too compatible.” Jackson is shy and private, while Dupri is a gregarious charmer who loves to be out and about.

Buzz that the relationship had taken a recent dive began circulating after Dupri was a no-show at Michael Jackson’s memorial service…

Janet Jackson will resume her tour this weekend.

The “Together Again” singer canceled a string of shows after falling ill with an undisclosed ailment, but has announced she is now ready to perform again.

A statement from Live Nation, who are promoting the “Rock Witchu” North American tour, read: “Janet, who has been under her doctor’s care and recuperating over the last week, is excited about getting back on the road and again being able to share with her fans what she feels is one of her best stage shows ever.”

Her next concert will take place in Uncasville, Connecticut, tomorrow (Oct 11, 2008).

Janet, 42, was forced to postpone shows in Montreal, Greensboro, Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale after being hospitalized hours before she was due to take the stage in Canada on September 29.

She was then advised by doctors to rest until fully recuperated from her illness.

The shows – part of Janet’s first American tour in seven years – will be rescheduled for a later date.

The “Feedback” singer was presented with the Vanguard Award at the 19th Annual GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Awards in Los Angeles’ Kodak Theater by openly homosexual US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

Upon receiving her award, Janet said: “I love it. I never expected it in a million years so when I heard they wanted to honor me, I was really taken aback. It’s just for the work that I’ve done with AIDS and acknowledging the gay and lesbian community through my music and so on. I’m just very appreciative.”

Janet has always been vocal about gay rights, and even wrote her number one single “Together Again” as a tribute to a close friend who died from AIDS.

She added: “Even when I was younger, when I was growing up, my mother was very religious but there were a lot of kids who were dancers that she brought into the home and now that I think about it, they were gay.”

“They all called her ‘Mother’ and she treated every one of them like they were her children. And that’s where it kind of started, I suppose. I’ve been around the community all my life.”

Other recipients of accolades included TV shows “Ugly Betty” for Outstanding Comedy Series and “Brothers and Sisters” for Outstanding Drama Series.

Musician Rufus Wainwright was presented with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award by Sharon Stone, for being an openly homosexual professional who has helped promote equal rights for gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals.

Previous recipients of the Vanguard Award include Charlize Theron, Antonio Banderas, Liza Minnelli and Whoopi Goldberg.

CBS Corp. should not be fined for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson’s breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction” because the stunt was both fleeting and unauthorized, a lawyer for the company argued on Tuesday.
The network also accused the Federal Communications Commission of applying “mushy” and newly restrictive standards when it fined CBS $550,000 for the half-second of partial nudity.

“The FCC’s new zero-tolerance policy has already had a chilling effect on the broadcast industry, particularly with regard to television,” said Robert Corn-Revere, a CBS lawyer who asked a federal appeals court panel to overturn the fine.

Several third parties, including two former FCC chairmen who complained the agency was engaged in a Victorian crusade, filed briefs in support of CBS. The agency, though, called CBS indifferent to the risk that “a highly sexualized performance” might cross the line.

The 90 million people watching the Super Bowl, many of them children, heard Justin Timberlake sing, “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song,” as he reached for Jackson’s bustier.

The scene capped a show that featured a crotch-grabbing performance by Nelly and steamy lyrics from Jackson and others. The case is the second recent test of the federal government’s powers to regulate broadcast indecency. In June, a federal appeals court in New York invalidated the government’s policy on fleeting profanities uttered over the airwaves. The case involved remarks made by Cher and Nicole Richie on awards shows carried on Fox network stations.

In a footnote to that ruling, the 2nd Circuit noted that President Bush and Vice President Cheney have been quoted using such expletives.

FCC lawyer Eric Miller argued Tuesday that Jackson’s costume reveal, although fleeting, was graphic and explicit. Still images of the moment in question soon made their way around the Internet.

“The idea of an exception for fleeting nudity flies in the face of common sense,” Miller said.

CBS should have been forewarned, especially when Jackson’s choreographer boasted four days earlier that the show would include “some shocking moments,” he argued.

Corn-Revere said the network took many precautions, such as choosing Jackson and Timberlake over more provocative performers, reviewing the script, voicing concerns about ad-libbed remarks and applying a 5-second audio delay.

Jackson has said the decision to add a costume reveal — exposing her right breast, which had only a silver sunburst “shield” covering her nipple — came after the final rehearsal.

At the time, broadcasters didn’t employ a video delay for live events, which was remedied within a week of the game.
In challenging the fine, CBS said that “fleeting, isolated or unintended” images should not automatically be considered indecent. The agency noted it has long held that “even relatively fleeting references may be found indecent where other factors contribute to a finding of patent offensiveness.”

Miller also argued that Jackson and Timberlake were employees of CBS and that the network should have to pay for their “willful” actions, given its lack of oversight.

The 3rd Circuit judges didn’t indicate when they would rule. The $550,000 fine represents the maximum $27,500 levied against each of the network’s 20 owned-and-operated stations.

Gibson took second place on the list.

Janet told Access Hollywood: “I don’t have a favorite workout, I hate them all. I’m being so honest with you and I know it sounds terrible. I’m not at all nervous about the tour though, I’m excited.”

The “All For You” singer – who turns 41 next week – has battled with her weight in the past and revealed her pop superstar brother Michael used to give her a “word workout.”

She said: “He called me names. You don’t even want to know! They’re not very nice – slaughter hog, that’s not very nice. There, I told you one, I’m not telling you any more. It gave me a complex. I’ve got issues.”

Michael Jackson is considering legal action to stop his personal memorabilia being included in a Jackson family auction.

Over 1,100 Jackson family items are due to be sold in “The Jacksons Auction” at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock hotel on May 30 and 31, but the “Thriller” singer wants to stop the sale, according to Associated Press.

Michael’s spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said: “Mr. Jackson was not aware and he is extremely upset that his memorabilia was included.”

Guernsey’s auction house said items include Michael Jackson’s gold record for his “Thriller” album, handwritten lyrics for The Jackson Five hit “ABC” and a “Victory Tour” program signed by the Jacksons.

There is also a test pressing of The Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back,” Marlon Jackson’s glitter jacket, Randy Jackson’s futuristic 1984 stage boots and a white fedora believed to be from Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album music video.

The collection was owned by Florida luggage transportation company Universal Express Inc, which bought it last year from a New Jersey construction company owner.

The former owner, Henry Vaccaro, claimed a warehouse full of Jackson memorabilia during a bankruptcy case.

Michael and his sister Janet sued to stop Vaccaro from taking ownership, but a Los Angeles judge threw Michael’s claim out of court last year.

The status of Janet’s claim is still unclear.

A celebrity fashion designer accused of luring young women and girls with promises of modeling work and then raping or sexually assaulting them was charged on Wednesday with attacks on four more victims.

Anand Jon, who has appeared on the popular television show “America’s Next Top Model,” is now charged with 32 counts involving sexual assaults on 12 victims, all women or girls from 14 to 23 years old with ties to the fashion industry.

“It’s violent. It’s sexual offences against younger female victims,” Deputy District Attorney Mara McIlvain told the court at Jon’s arraignment in Beverly Hills. “It’s a pattern of conduct that is like a serial sex offender.”

The 33-year-old Indian-born designer, touted by Newsweek magazine as a person to watch in 2007, pleaded innocent to all of the charges.

His attorney has said the sex was consensual and that the women falsely accused Jon because he did not make them famous.

Superior Court Judge Eldon Fox ordered Jon, who is free on $1.3 million (658,000 pounds) bail, back to court on June 12.

The judge said Jon could resume work as a fashion designer but must not be alone with a woman under the age of 30. Models under that age must sign documents swearing they were never alone with him.

Fox rejected a request by prosecutors to raise Jon’s bail in light of the additional charges. If convicted, Jon faces life in prison.

A Los Angeles District Attorney’s spokeswoman said that in addition to the dozen victims named in the criminal complaint, six other women had come forward to say they were attacked by the designer and were being interviewed by prosecutors.

“They were all allegedly lured as models with promises or careers in modeling or modeling contracts and then sexually assaulted,” spokeswoman Jane Robison said.

Robison said Jon was also being investigated by authorities in Texas and New York.

The charges include forcible rape, sexual battery, sexual battery by restraint, sexual penetration by a foreign object, sodomy by use of force, forcible oral copulation, attempted forcible oral copulation, false imprisonment by violence, assault with the intent to commit a felony, lewd act on a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and sexual exploitation of a child.

Prosecutors say the women and girls were attacked between November 2002 and March of this year and that Jon was first investigated after one of the alleged victims contacted authorities.

He was arrested at his home in Beverly Hills in March.

According to a December profile of Jon in Newsweek, the designer has dressed such celebrities as Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson, plans to launch a new line of jeans and is developing a reality TV show about his life.
