Jake Gyllenhaal has been spotted engagement ring shopping.

The “Brokeback Mountain” actor spent four hours in a New York jewelery shop last week in search of the perfect band to propose to his girlfriend Reese Witherspoon.

A source said: “Jake spent most of his time in the room where they keep the rings. He looked really serious and was taking his time.”

According to recent reports, Jake is planning to whisk the “Legally Blonde” actress away on a romantic Egyptian holiday to pop the question to his girlfriend of two years.

Geoffrey Kent from the Abercrombie and Kent travel company said: “I was asked to organize the trip for Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend.”

“They will go everywhere by private jet and cram as much as possible in.”

“That means Luxor, the Pyramids and possibly a private viewing of the newly-discovered Saqqara mummy. They are going to stay in the best hotels and it will be quite an experience.”

The 28-year-old actor has been making a huge effort to spend time with 32-year-old Reese’s two children recently – nine-year-old Ava and Deacon, five, from her previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.

Reese Witherspoon thinks it is too soon to think about marrying boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.

The 32-year-old actress – who has two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe – admits divorce has changed her opinions about the institution of marriage.

She said: “Family is all we have in life, but I don’t know how I feel about marriage. Obviously, I’m not far enough out of being married to think about doing it again.”

“You sort of reconstitute your family. You find a family with people who come into your life for a reason.”

Reese, who has never revealed the reasons for her divorce, also revealed she always vowed not to “lay blame” on Ryan for their relationship breakdown.

She added to Parade magazine: “There are things in my life that are hard to reconcile, like divorce. Sometimes it is very difficult to make sense of how it could possibly happen. Laying blame is so easy.”

“When you make wrong choices, you have to take responsibility for them, ‘What part of this do I own?’ I struggle to figure out what made me make those choices.”

“All I can hope for is that I’ve learned something from it and won’t make the same choices again.”

“That’s not always an easy thing in Central London, especially Mayfair. But we were able to come up with a couple of places both she and Jake seemed to like.”

Jake fell in love with London after shooting scenes for his new movie “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” in the city.

Friends of the couple are confident the relationship will last, saying they are more in love than ever.

One pal revealed: “I am convinced they will eventually marry and I really think it will be for good.”

“I know we’re talking about Hollywood stars, but these two have something special.”

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon has finally agreed to marry actor Jake Gyllenhall this Christmas.

Gyllenhaal reportedly told friends he had plans to wed Witherspoon in December this year after he was through filming his forthcoming adventure movie, “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”, reports Contactmusic.com

Witherspoon earned an Academy Award for her film “Walk The Line” in 2007.
