Scarlett Johansson has been put on a diet by Gwyneth Paltrow.

The curvy “Lost In Translation” star has lost over 14lbs since she began working out with her “Iron Man 2″ co-star in preparation for the movie.

A source said: “The pair have been doing daily workouts with Gwyneth’s personal trainer Tracy Anderson. Scarlett is also staying away from carbohydrates.”

The 24-year-old actress has reportedly decided to slim down amid fears she could lose out on movie roles to younger, more attractive actresses.

A friend told Britain’s Star magazine: “Scarlett has always been happy with her curves, but recently she has been feeling pressure to lose a few pounds.”

“She knows that she is up against tough competition from younger, prettier and increasingly skinner actresses.”

Scarlett previously insisted she loved her fuller figure and felt no pressure to diet.

She said: “I don’t need to be skinny to be sexy.”

Josh Hartnett was rushed to hospital yesterday (March 30, 2009).

The “Pearl Harbor” star was staying at the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood when he began complaining of “excruciating” abdominal pain at around 2am.

An ambulance quickly arrived and took the star to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he is currently “under observation.”

In a statement, Hartnett’s representative Susan Patricola said the 30-year-old actor had suffered a “flare-up” of an ongoing gastrointestinal problem.

Patricola revealed the actor has been experiencing pain in his abdomen for “several months,” during which he starred in a West End theater production of “Rain Man” in London.

The illness is thought to be caused by a lingering stomach virus. Hartnett is currently “resting comfortably” and will see a specialist today (March 31, 2009).

The hunk recently revealed he found working in the theater difficult because he had to perform in front of a live audience.

He said: “It’s just a completely different experience to film because with film you do your take and then you don’t do it ever again.”

Robert Downey Jr. is dieting to please his friend Chris Martin.

The actor – who became friends with the Coldplay frontman after starring in “Iron Man” with Chris’ wife Gwyneth Paltrow – has been shedding pounds in preparation for his title role in the upcoming movie “Sherlock Holmes.”

He made the decision to slim down following pressure from Chris, who is a big fan of the Arthur Conan Doyle detective stories.

Robert said: “He’s a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. He said to me before we began, ‘You’ve got to be gaunt. You’ve got to be a skinny as you possibly can to play Holmes.’”

“So every time I’m reaching for a muffin I just think about Chris Martin and skip the snack. It’s been tough.”

Robert, 43, needed to slim down after bulking up for his role in action movie “Tropic Thunder.”

He said: “All I did was eat cheeseburgers and smoke Camels for three months. You’ve got to be in good shape to make it through that. I do tons of weightlifting and martial arts anyway, so I stepped up my Wing Chun Kung Fu.”

“I like staying in shape for a movie. Normally you pay for personal trainers, so it’s great when you can keep fit at someone else’s expense. I run a lot of miles and eat a lot of Wheaties cereal.”

Mischa Barton has slammed rumors she’s too thin, insisting all is well in ”Mischa world.”

Fears have been raised for “The O.C.” star’s health after she dropped three dress sizes in three months – but Mischa insists she is feeling great.

Mischa, 23, wrote on her blog: “Just so you guys know, I’m happier and healthier than ever. Things are really well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.”

“I still love my Pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on.”

Mischa also urged young women to be confident about their bodies and ignore criticism.

She said: “To my female fans – just be happy and secure with yourself and don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.”

Mischa appears in a racy shoot for men’s magazine FHM in the US this month, posing in a bikini top and matching black underwear.

Kate Moss is taking vitamins because she is ”totally into” looking after her health.

The British supermodel – who is believed to be expecting a child with her boyfriend, The Kills rocker Jamie Hince – is determined to take care of her body this year.

She said: “I plan to totally get into looking after myself, taking the right vitamins and all the stuff you read about.”

The 34-year-old star even plans to give up smoking, although she admits she expects to find it hard to kick the habit.

She added to Britain’s New! magazine: “I love to smoke. I know it’s bad, but it’s one of my life pleasures. I will be getting for good. I know I have to look after myself.”

Kate recently dismissed rumors she is pregnant, insisting she has gained weight which makes her breasts look bigger than usual.

She said: “I am a woman now. It’s true. Honestly, I’ve never worn a bra in my life. Ever!”

“It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, ‘Are you pregnant?’”

“And I’m like, ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds and they went in the right place.’ Isn’t that weird?”

The “Two Lovers” actress – whose father Bruce Paltrow died of the inflammatory lung illness in 2002 – was horrified when she was told she was suffering from the condition as she thought she was going to die.

Gwyneth told People magazine: “When I fell ill with pneumonia last year the fear of dying sort of swept over me to the degree that I lost my sight for a second and I nearly collapsed.”

“I thought of what it would mean to my family.”

“I thought about the things that I still need to accomplish, and I felt the bitter clinch of this fear wrap itself around every organ in my body until the doctor walked in and told me I was fine.”

Gwyneth, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, revealed she was most worried about what would happen to the couple’s children – four-year-old daughter Apple, and son Moses, two.

Despite the incident, the 36-year-old actress is determined not to become obsessed with her own mortality and has not thought about the legacy she will leave her children.

She explained: “I just sort of do the best that I can on a daily basis and I learn.”

Gwyneth has previously spoken of her devastation at her father’s death, adding she worried she is developing pneumonia whenever she falls ill.

She said: “To this day I’m faced with his death all the time. I’ve had pneumonia twice in the past year, and that’s ultimately what he died of.”

“I’ve been dealing with my own fear of death – every time I get a cold.”

Kelly Osbourne was forced to back out of her final performance in West End musical Chicago, after she was hospitalised following a fall.

The 23-year-old was scheduled to perform at London’s Cambridge Theatre on Nov 2 for the last of her performances as Mama Morton. But, the singer has to call off after injuring her back in an incident on Oct 31.

Osbourne was taken to a London hospital and later released with a neck brace.

Meanwhile Kelly is keen to resume her Radio 1 Sunday Surgery and then film Project Catwalk for Sky One next month, after spending the weekend in bed.

The 37-year-old, who once admitted that reducing after giving birth would be hard, featured in the InStyle magazine showing off perfectly toned legs and a trim midriff.

Cahe told reporters at the Buenos Aires hospital where Maradona, 46, was rushed three days ago, that his condition is “fine and stable” and for the moment “without unexpected complications.”

Doctors said that Maradona, called one of the greatest players of the last century but whose career on and off the pitch has been marred by repeated drug and alcohol abuse, had been hospitalized related to drinking.

The only official medical report from the hospital Saturday said “Maradona’s clinical development is good,” and said he had undergone several different tests and scans.

“He has been given psychotropic medication required by the detoxification program,” the statement said.

Cahe said the athlete’s problems stemmed from more than alcohol consumption.

“It isn’t real alcoholism. There was alcohol, diet, tobacco in excess, most certainly issues of privacy and of a high level of stress that was happening.

“All of that in greater or smaller amounts has affected him at this moment.”

Cahe said Maradona’s life was not in danger, but conceded that he would have to stay hospitalized for a time.

“The problems are his liver and withdrawal from alcohol,” Cahe said.

“It is like he has hepatitis, but it is not that.”

Maradona has suffered from chronic hepatitis since he contracted hepatitis B in 1991, while he played for Barcelona.

Maradona was rushed to the hospital from his parents’ house late Wednesday with unknown symptoms.

“It was good we moved quickly, because if not the situation would have turned out differently,” Cahe said.

Days earlier Cahe had said the former Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Napoli star might leave for Switzerland for treatment after his weight had again ballooned.

Newspaper photographs early this month appeared to show he had regained many of the 50 kilograms (110 pounds) lost after he had gastric bypass surgery in 2005.

Another showed him in a Buenos Aires nightclub with an injured nose after falling off a chair.

He had also been in the news after Argentina’s central bank said it had begun collecting information about Maradona’s bank accounts, suggesting the football great was under investigation for tax evasion.

Cahe claimed that Maradona had made an incredible recovery from his 2004 heart attack, which followed a cocaine overdose.

“His heart is stronger than ever,” he said.

Cahe said Maradona could spend another week in the hospital, after which they could still make the trip to Switzerland for treatment.

Michael Jackson’s representative has denied the star was hospitalized with pneumonia yesterday.

The “Thriller” singer was rumored to have been admitted to a Las Vegas hospital suffering from pneumonia but his spokeswoman insists he is at home and simply “under the weather.”

Raymone Bain told ‘Access Hollywood‘: “Michael Jackson is not currently in the hospital nor has he been hospitalized with pneumonia.”

“MJ is not hospitalized. I spoke to him a couple of hours ago and he was at home conducting meetings.”

“I told one reporter that I did not know if the doctor had diagnosed him with pneumonia or a bad case of the flu.”

“Everyone was a bit under the weather due to changing climates and the traveling, but he’s OK.”

Britney Spears was admitted to hospital for a broken tooth yesterday evening (Mar 25, 2007).

The “Toxic” singer seemed to be in considerable pain, though she smiled and laughed for the cameras as she entered Century City Medical Plaza.

A source said: “She was smiling for the cameras, but the moment she got into the elevators she was complaining to her bodyguards that it was unfair her tooth was broken, and she couldn’t take painkillers.”

Britney’s representative Larry Rudlolph said: “Reports Britney was hospitalized are all wrong. She just went to the dentist. She had a toothache. I have no more details.”

The 25-year-old star was treated by a dentist and left the hospital about an hour later.

Since leaving Malibu’s Promises rehab clinic last week, Britney has been keeping a low profile.

The few visitors she has seen include her sons – 18-month-old Sean Preston and six-month-old Jayden James – and her estranged husband Kevin Federline.

Johnny Depp’s daughter was left seriously ill after reportedly contracting the potentially-fatal E.coli virus.

The Hollywood actor’s seven-year-old, Lily-Rose, was hospitalized earlier this month with what was thought to be blood poisoning.

However, production staff on Depp’s latest movie have now revealed what the illness was and claim the deadly virus caused Lily-Rose’s kidneys to shut down.

An insider on “Sweeney Todd” is quoted by Britain’s The Sun newspaper as saying: “Everyone was shocked when we were told the real reason for Lily-Rose’s illness. It was touch and go for her for a while.”

Johnny – who also has a five-year-old son, John Jack, with long-term lover Vanessa Paradis – was distraught when Lily-Rose was initially hospitalized and kept a bedside vigil at the London hospital.

The 43-year-old star has often spoken about how his children have completely turned his life around.

He said: “I just want to watch my kids grow up and make sure they’re healthy and happy. They are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Nicole Richie’s recent collapses on the set of ”The Simple Life” are the result of low blood sugar levels.

The 25-year-old star was hospitalized for dehydration earlier this month and allegedly collapsed again on the set of her reality show last week.

Nicole is now said to have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia.

A representative for the star said: “In her ongoing effort to focus on her well-being, Nicole has recently discovered she has hypoglycemia.”

“She is taking steps to manage it. Nicole has reported to work each day and the results have been fantastic.”

A “Simple Life” source said: “Four or five times she’s felt really faint and almost passed out. She has to go into her trailer for a good part of the day.”

Nicole, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, announced in October she was seeking treatment for an “inability to gain weight.”

She is currently facing charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) after she was stopped by police in December for driving the wrong way on a California Highway.

She admitted to police she had smoked marijuana and taken the strong painkiller Vicodin.

For the latest series of “The Simple Life” she and close friend Paris Hilton, 26, are acting as camp counselors.

Jack Nicholson has been comforting and consoling cancer victims at a Los Angeles hospital.

The Hollywood legend has been visiting the dying patients at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, and cheering them up with card games and stories of his film career.

A hospital source said: “He jokes, plays cards and treats patients like long-lost friends.”

“He tries to see as many beds as possible and he brings in DVDs of his movies and talks hem through what happened behind the scenes.”

The Oscar-winning actor first went to the hospital to research his role in new movie “The Bucket List,” in which he plays a dying man.

However, Jack became so touched and moved by the patients he has carried on his visits despite finishing filming.

Hospital workers say his visits raise the patients’ spirits immensely and they look forward to seeing him.

But Jack, 69, finds it hard to leave the hospital because he worries who will still be alive when he next visits.

The source added: “He feels terrible leaving, knowing he’s maybe seen some of them for the last time.”

Sienna Miller was called ”Fatty Edie” by Guy Pearce during the making of ”Factory Girl.”

The pair star in the film as artist Andy Warhol and his muse, Edie Sedgwick.

Guy dieted so much for his role as the slender pop artist he ended up thinner than Sienna, prompting him to invent the nickname.

Sienna revealed to Britain’s New magazine: “Edie was unhealthily skinny. But it’s quite funny that Andy was skinnier in the film. Guy was taking the p**s out of me a lot! He’d say ‘Little fatty Edie!’ He was so skinny!”

The 25-year-old actress also revealed the director tried hiding her food in a bid to get her to lose weight for the part.

She said: “The awful thing was Guy was really disciplined about losing the weight and I wasn’t. I didn’t want to.”

“The director used to steal my bagels but he gave up because I love my food.”

“I’m an energetic person but I don’t work out and I do eat a lot. So Andy was actually skinnier than Edie in the film, which is not how it was.”

Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are to be counselors at a fat camp.

Slim Nicole – who has admitted to having weight problems – and her equally slender friend Paris will become camp counselors for the latest series of their reality show “The Simple Life.”

A representative for the series said: “They are going to be counselors at one camp in the Southern California Mountains.”

“The camp has five different themes. Each week will be a different theme. And one week is a weight loss/fitness camp. It is a wellness camp focused on eating right, yoga, nutrition and exercise.”

Nicole, 25, has already raised questions as to her suitability as a role model to young people.

The reformed heroin addict has sought nutritional advice after experiencing dramatic weight loss and two weeks ago was hospitalized during a show after collapsing from dehydration.

The trio may have contracted the illness after attending a US post-premiere party for “Music and Lyrics” on February 7.

The event was catered for by Wolfgang Puck’s company, and it has been now been revealed one of the cooks had Hepatitis A.

A letter was sent to guests warning them of a “public health issue” and saying they may be at risk of infection if they had eaten uncooked food.

Guests at risk were advised to get a gamma globulin shot within 14 days of exposure – before February 21.

However, the letter wasn’t sent out until March 1. Sponsors of the party claim the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health did not inform them of the problem until February 28th.

The letter read: “The Department of Health has reassured the hosts on how very low the risk of infection is.”

Hosts of the “Music and Lyrics” party insist no one who attended contracted Hepatitis A.

Wolfgang Puck’s catering company also catered for a Sports Illustrated bash which was at the center of a Hepatitis scare.

Beyonce Knowles was one of the guests at risk of infection, but was given the all clear.

Kate Winslet, an outspoken critic of what she sees as Hollywood’s obsession with being skinny, has won a public apology and undisclosed libel damages from a magazine that reported she visited a diet doctor.

Winslet’s lawyer, Rachel Atkins, told the High Court in London on Friday that the article in Grazia magazine was wrong.

The weekly glossy, published by Britain’s Emap Plc, had reported that Winslet discussed treatments at the Chinese Healing Institute in California.

Atkins said Winslet did receive treatment from a doctor there, but it was for a neck injury and not for weight.

Winslet immediately complained to the magazine, saying that the article suggested “she had lied to the public when she had said that she refused to bow to pressure to be skinny and celebrated her curves.”

“Grazia magazine have apologized to me in full, and admitted that their story was incorrect, which gives me tremendous peace of mind,” the Oscar-nominated star said in a statement released by her solicitors.

“I feel very strongly that ‘curves’ are natural, womanly and real. I shall continue to hope that women are able to believe in themselves for who they are inside, and not feel under such incredible pressure to be unnaturally thin.”

Winslet will donate the settlement to an eating disorder charity, and the publishers will also pay her legal costs.

The 31-year-old said last year she refused to have magazines in her home because she was worried about her young daughter Mia reading them.

Outside Hollywood, pressure has been growing on the fashion world to promote a healthier look, with critics calling for a ban on ultra-skinny models.
