The “Up In The Air” actor claims he is worried that new airport scanners which can see through a passenger’s clothing will lead him to being subjected to many more security checks by inquisitive airline staff and is thinking of taking drastic action.

The 48-year-old actor joked: “It is a concern. I have nothing to hide of course but nobody likes to be taken advantage of. I think there could really be a market for some special underwear to protect us all from that kind of exposure because it is a little disconcerting.”

Meanwhile, George – who is dating Italian model Elisabetta Canalis – has admitted he is astonished as to how many famous faces have agreed to man phone lines for the telethon he is hosting tonight (Jan 22, 2010) to raise money for the victims of earthquake-hit Haiti.

The Hollywood actor took both his mother and girlfriend to the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie “Up in the Air” – in which he stars as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizer who travels the country delivering bad news.

The 48-year-old star proudly walked up the red carpet with his girlfriend of five months, 31-year-old Italian TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis, and mother Nina Clooney, 70.

George – who has recently been inseparable from his new girlfriend – even poked fun at Elisabetta. He said: “This is my mother… and then this random woman just came up!”

His mother Nina was heard joking “so, I guess you’re my date tonight,” when George was dragged away for interviews and she was left with Elisabetta.

This is not the first time George has brought his mother and a girlfriend to one of his film premieres.

In 2004, he shared the red carpet with his then-lover, British model Lisa Snowdon, and Nina at the premiere of “Ocean’s Twelve.”

George Clooney pulled up to the Venice Film Festival on a boat with his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis yesterday.

The lucky lady has been treated to George’s luxurious life in Italy all Summer, apparently she’s stayed around long enough to be his Venice plus one.

George Clooney has cast doubt on Angelina Jolie’s alleged pregnancy, saying that he has no idea about it.

While speaking at the 2007 National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Awards Gala, the 46-year-old actor said that he has no knowledge of Jolie’s reported pregnancy.

“I have no idea. I don’t think so. I haven’t heard anything,” Usmagazine quoted Clooney, as saying.

The ‘Michael Clayton’ star walked the red carpet with girlfriend Sarah Larson and he was tight-lipped when asked about what he and Larson have planned for Valentine’s Day next month.

Some 27 workers at a New Jersey hospital were suspended Wednesday after reportedly taking a peek at George Clooney’s confidential medical records while the actor was being treated there following a motorcycle accident.

None of the employees, each suspended for four weeks, were doctors treating Clooney, administrators said, raising a host of questions about who can view private medical information and what measures are in place to protect patients’ privacy.

Clooney was taken to Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J. Sept. 21 after he and passenger Sarah Larson were injured when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car. Clooney broke a rib and Larson broke her foot.

Hospital administrators said the confidentiality breach was discovered after a routine audit.

“We conduct audits on a regular basis to make sure our systems are protecting individuals’ rights,” Eurice Rojas, the hospital’s vice president of external affairs, told The Associated Press. “We conducted an audit immediately with respect to this situation and that resulted in [the investigation].”

Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, the department is charged with ensuring that insurance companies and health care providers don’t violate the law by allowing unauthorized employees to gain access to patient records.

Reuniting director Steven Soderbergh with cast members George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and other big names, it slightly trailed the opening weekend of its predecessor, 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve ($39.2 million), and the 2001 original, Ocean’s Eleven ($38.1 million).

An 18-year-old waitress and part-time jazz singer is in line for a multi-million dollar record deal after performing for George Clooney at the Cannes film festival.

Victoria Hart, whose day job involves working for tips at the little-known Naked Turtle restaurant in London, was flown to Cannes earlier this month after a friend-of-a-friend put her name forward to sing at a charity event.

Her performance in front of Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Clooney, who described her as “simply lovely,” won her international acclaim and now major record labels EMI and Universal are battling to sign her.

“We’re getting very close — a deal is not far away at all,” Hart’s agent Lynne Pearson told Reuters from her home in Switzerland.

“It’s always very difficult to talk about specific figures, but it will be a very big deal when it is announced.”

British newspapers put the figure at $3 million.

An annual benefit soiree on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday raised $7 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).

The Global Day for Darfur was to be marked around the world by activists overturning 10,000 hourglasses filled with fake blood.

Protestors are to hold a march on Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Downing Street office plus a demonstration outside the Sudanese embassy in London.

The conflict in the western region of Sudan has led to 200,000 deaths and two million people being displaced, according to the United Nations.

Sudan contests the figures, saying that only 9,000 have died.

A group of kids on spring break thought setting up a lemonade stand near George Clooney’s movie set might be a good business move. They were right.

The star paid $20 for his lemonade, which 10-year-old Carter, 6-year-old Chandler and 5-year-old Chase Fontaine were selling for 25 cents.

Clooney made his way over to the lemonade stand Wednesday afternoon after shooting scenes for “Leatherheads,” a movie about the early days of professional football that he is directing and acting in.
