Cynthia Nixon wants to marry girlfriend Christine Marinoni as soon as it becomes legal in her home state of New York.

The “Sex and the City” actress – who has been dating the education activist for four years – is ready to tie the knot but will only do it once gay marriages are legally recognized in the Big Apple.

She told the New York Daily News newspaper: “In an ideal world, we would like to marry in New York, when it becomes legalized. Hopefully, it won’t take 20 years.”

Same-sex marriages were recently legalized in California but New York has yet to change its law.

This is not the first time Cynthia – who has two children, 11-year-old daughter Samantha and five-year-old son Charles, with ex-boyfriend Danny Mozes – has revealed her desire to marry Christine.

The 42-year-old actress previously said: “I definitely would get married. It’s something my girlfriend is interested in too.”

“I think that to get married to her would be a little act of rebellion. It’s like if you’ve never had the vote and then you get it you’re going to run out there and vote.”

Cynthia Nixon has reportedly had a boob job.

The “Sex and the City” actress – who recently revealed she had secretly fought breast cancer – is said to have undergone the operation at New York’s Roosevelt Hospital earlier this month.

She was joined by co-star Kristin Davis, who reportedly had surgery on her unsightly varicose veins.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Cynthia had a breast augmentation and soon after, Kristin had the varicose veins on her legs removed.”

“They both made sure they did it on the quietest day of the week.”

Cynthia’s representative has denied the story, while Kristin’s has refused to comment.

Earlier this year, Cynthia, 42, revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 but decided to remain quiet as she didn’t want to deal with it in the public eye.

She said: “I went for a completely routine mammogram and I was contacted by my gynecologist.”

“She said, ‘Well I have some news, it’s not so great.’ I kept it secret because I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital.”

Cynthia – who has two children, Samantha, 11, and five-year-old Charles, with ex-partner Danny Mozes – is currently in a lesbian relationship with Christine Marinoni.

Cynthia – who was diagnosed with the disease after a routine mammogram 18 months ago – told friends Christine was her “rock” while she was undergoing radiation therapy for to treat the cancer.

The couple first met seven months after Cynthia left her partner of 15 years, Danny Mozes, who is also the father of her children – 11-year-old Samantha and five-year-old Charles.

The actress, who is reprising her role as Miranda Hobbes for the movie version of SaTC, told ‘Good Morning America’ that she was informed she had breast cancer by her gynaecologist in 2006.

“She says, ‘Well I have some, it’s not great news,’” Nixon explained, admitting that she immediately felt scared.

“[She said] If it’s going to happen, this is the best way for it to happen – that it’s found so early, and we can just get right on it.”

According to the 42-year-old, the lump was very small and was caught very early. She is “going to have an operation, they’re going to take it out and then we’re going to have six-and-a-half weeks of radiation, every weekday.”

Nixon also explained that breast cancer is hereditary in her family saying, “This is what grandma went through, and I’m going to be fine… As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, knowing my personal risk made me more aware and more empowered when I faced my own diagnosis.”

She added that she chose to keep the news private, because she “didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital.”
