“If I tried to hold on to that, I’d be a pretty unhappy individual. I don’t make movies for my ego. I do them for my personal growth and to give something to an audience.”

Despite growing close to her 13-year-old “My Sister’s Keeper” co-star Abigail Breslin, the blonde beauty is still unsure whether she will become a mother herself.

She explained: “I don’t declare either way if I’m going to have children. I don’t know what will happen… and I’m totally fine with that.”

Earlier this month, Cameron said she found it easy to empathize with her character Sara Fitzgerald even though she is not a mother herself.

Cameron – who recently split from British model Paul Sculfor – said: “I think we all related to the fact that there isn’t anything that you wouldn’t give someone that you love that deeply. You do whatever it takes to keep that person alive.”

“I think that that’s something that spoke to most of us, for this film, and what I think is so effective in the film.”

At least that’s hope for the brain trust behind Cameron Diaz’s latest outing, in which she’ll star as a ruthless legal eagle who takes the case when one of her firm’s biggest clients gets sued for sexual discrimination.

According to Variety, Diaz is in final negotiations to star in Bobbie Sue. No director has yet been named.

The actress – who voices Princess Fiona in the animated film franchise – attended the Broadway opening of the musical on Sunday (Dec 14, 2008) but has no plans to tread the boards herself.

Asked if she would like to play Fiona on stage, Cameron replied: “No. Absolutely not. What they do up there is, to me, impossible.”

“It’s wonderful, though. They’ve done such a great job. They worked really hard, and it really pays off.”

Despite her reluctance to take to the stage, the 36-year-old actress had nothing but praise for production.

She said: “It’s hilarious. There are so many laughs. It’s great to see all the actors playing it together, because when we do it for the animated films, we never see each other. We don’t work together.”

Cameron is due to reprise her role as Fiona for the fourth installment of the series, due to be released next year, with Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy – who play the green ogre and Donkey respectively – also set to return.

Ben, who was accompanied by his actress wife Christine Taylor, said: “We are ‘Shrek’ fans at our house. We’re going to go check out the musical and let the kids know if it’s suitable for children.”

“It was important to me to convey to all of you how much I love this film.”

Diaz also explains that, “This weekend I am screening ‘What Happens In Vegas’ for my family. It was a unanimous decision that we all needed to share a good laugh. After all that’s why we make films like these. So people can leave behind their worries for a couple of hours. Have a good laugh.”

Cameron Diaz has revealed that she plans to take a year off from movies.

Speaking before the sudden death of her father last week, the actress said she wanted to devote more time “getting to know” herself.

She told W: “I envision a full year off, just living life and having fun. It’s the best thing. This year I just sort of decided, you know, there’s a lot of things that I’ve been wanting to do and I’m going to do them.”

The 35-year-old said she would take time out after filming current movie My Sister’s Keeper, which is released next year.

Emilio Diaz, who lived in Seal Beach, California, had recently developed the flu which ended up turning into pneumonia. The 58-year-old is said to have suddenly passed away on Tuesday morning (April 15).

Sources have since revealed that production on Diaz’s latest movie “My Sister’s Keeper” was shut down to give her time to grieve and take care of family matters.

Emilio was a second generation Cuban-American who worked as a foreman for an oil company – also having a small role as “Jailbird” in Cameron’s hit movie “There’s Something About Mary”.
