The “Slumdog Millionaire” star received a frantic telephone call from his mom Anita after she read on the internet he had proposed to the 25-year-old beauty without telling her.

Speaking at the “Last Airbender” premiere in New York, he said: “I was like, ‘Mom, I honestly didn’t get engaged, trust me.’ Nothing’s happened. Everything is absolutely fine. I’m just shooting a film.”

“My mom will go to work and have to explain to everyone why they have written that her son is going to get engaged and got a wedding ring, and how it’s all just not true.”

The pair have been dating since they first started working on the Oscar-winning movie in 2008. Although there are no wedding plans just yet, the couple’s relationship is going well.

Dev said: “She’s very inspiring to me and just great support. She’s a great friend and amazing.”

The 20-year-old actor is also close to his mother, and often pops home to visit her because she helps him remain “grounded.”

He explained: “Any free time I get, mom tells me I better get back home and eat some of her food. I don’t mind at all. At home it just grounds me. All my local school friends still live in walking distance from my house. Sometimes I just need to go home to be normal. But of course, mom says, ‘It’s in bed at six!’”

“Everybody keeps on shouting ‘Slumdog’ when I walk down the street. But it’s the nicest compliment. That movie was such an amazing experience and just a blessing.”

Although Anita was shocked at reading gossip about her son online, she is usually open about her Dev’s private life.

Last year, she said: “First it was the film and now everything else seems to have slotted into place. Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them.”

Naomi Campbell is set to star in a Bollywood movie.

The British supermodel wowed casting directors during her appearance at the Fashion For Relief fund raiser in Mumbai last week and is now planning to return to India to audition for her first major film role.

A source said: “Naomi had never modeled in India before but she loved every minute.”

Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib has confirmed there is a sex tape of the pair.

The British paparazzo claims he and Britney – who reportedly wears nothing but a pink wig throughout the X-rated piece – made the footage while on holiday in Mexico, and admits he is considering selling the two-hour tape for “the right price.”

He is quoted by Heat magazine as saying: “There is such a tape, but I won’t discuss prices for hypothetical inquiries. Unless there is a locked-in deal, I will go no further.”

Shreya Saran of “Shivaji: The Boss” fame is in trouble over her Hollywood assignments. The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) plans to take action against the actress for ignoring actor Dhanush starrer project for her foreign assignments.Shreya took an advance from producer Murugesan to star opposite Dhanush, son-in-law of Rajnikant. She was supposed to start working on the film after finishing a shooting schedule for Gemini Films with the same actor, sources from the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) said.

The makers of Bollywood’s Hari Putter – A Comedy Of Terrors have defended the film, saying it has nothing in common with Harry Potter.

Warner Bros is taking legal action against producers Mirchi Movies, based in Mumbai, India, over the film title.

The studio believes the name is too similar to that of the young wizard.

But Munish Purii, of Mirchi Movies, said: “Our film bears no resemblance to the Hollywood film Harry Potter and it is a completely different story.”

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty today said reality shows like ‘Big Brother’ reveal what kind of a person the participant is in real life.

“Only those who are confident that they have nothing to hide or do not want to become famous overnight can participate in such a show,” Shilpa, who will host the second season of ‘Big Boss’, the Indian version of racist slur-marred ‘Big Brother’, told reporters here.
