Q. If you had to date a historical character, who would he be and why?
A. I guess it must be Bhagat Singh. I have worked in the movie The Legend of Bhagat Singh and was very much inspired by him.

At the young age of 23, he was hanged for the sacrifices he made for our country. It’s not easy to make yourself be heard like that.

Q. What if the guy you like turns out to be a gay?
A. He would still be a good friend of mine.

Q. If you are going out on a date and someone makes a pass at you, would you want your guy to fight with that man?
A. I have seen that happening in movies and have always been inspired when Shah Rukh Khan does something like that in Baazigar and Darr.

Q. Among the current crop of Bollywood stars, who do you think is the hottest?
A. Aamir is my favorite. I think Hrithik is also perfect in terms of looks, height and body.

Q. Your first crush?
A. During my school days, I used to like a cricketer. But now I feel too embarrassed to even take his name. He is out of the team now.

Q. Which zodiac-sign man do you go around well with?
A. I’m not much into zodiac signs. I certainly have many friends who are guys, but I haven’t really asked them about their zodiac signs!

Q. What qualities would you like your man to possess?
A. I would want him to have a lot of patience. I would want him to calm me down when I get flustered about something. I would want him to really support me and tell me whenever he feels I’m wrong. Above all, he should respect his parents and be a thorough gentleman.

Q. This guy would be from Bollywood?
A. Not necessarily.

Q. Is sense of humor a must?
A. I think, yes. The first thing which attracts me to a person is his sense of humor.

To begin any Bollywood actress’s interview by calling her ‘different’ is surely a cliché and you’d be ready to put it down to the interviewer’s fancy, but here’s something for starters – she readily admits she’s not a huge cricket buff (though she doesn’t mind the Twenty20)! Meet Amrita Arora, the Bollywood bombshell who made audiences sweat as she moved to the sardi of Dilli, and who has no qualms about wearing her sexuality on her sleeve.

Do you mind the ’sexy siren’ tag? Do you think the image prevents you from getting more serious roles?
Not at all. I like being sexy and I think it is a woman’s prerogative to be sexy! I don’t fear the label, for I think ’serious’ is a very hypothetical term. Does it mean being de-glam and doing rona dhona ? I think there’ll be sexiness even in the de-glam Amrita.

You’re quite the queen of item numbers. Are you still game for more?
Hey, I’ve done just one item number, Dilli ki sardi . People have the impression I’ve done more since most of my movies have popular numbers. Well yes, if someone offers me another item number that is to my taste and I like the track, I will be happy to do it.

You’re one of the fittest actresses on the scene. How much effort goes into working out and dieting?
Lots…(and repeating it for emphasis)…lots! When you’re 21, if your genes are good, you can eat like a pig and still stay in shape. But as you grow older, it requires a lot more effort. I do yoga thrice a week and weight training thrice a week. I do control my diet, but don’t believe in not eating. And one day in the week is my ‘cheat-day’ when I let myself go completely mad and have all the cakes and chocolates. Being half south Indian, tairasadam (curd-rice) or sambar-rice is a must on that one day.

At a time when a lot of actresses are uncomfortable doing bold roles, you did the daring role of a lesbian in Girlfriend . What made you do that?
Well, the mindset of the average heroine here is still somewhat prudish, and they want to do the tried and tested roles. Girlfriend may be gone and buried now, but I did it for the right reasons, wanting to work on a subject that’s important. Unfortunately, it got lost in a season of sleaze with movies like Hawas . I hope five years down the line, someone will handle the subject better and win accolades.

What are your upcoming projects?
I am trying to do really varied stuff. In Atul Agnihotri’s Hello , I do a de-glam role of a girl addicted to substances. In Banda Ye Bindaas Hai , I play a Maharashtrian bai! Besides, Golmaal Returns is a laugh-riot, and Samir Karnik’s Mera Bharat Mahaan is about four college students whose lives change when they go on a road trip through Ladakh and Punjab to make a film on the army.

You and sister Malaika seem to share a great chemistry on-screen. What’s it like off-screen?
Even better! We’re like peas in a pod. Growing up, I was always the naughty one while she was responsible, and she would even take shoutings for me. And till date, things haven’t changed!

Tinseltown is well-known for catfights among actresses. In such a scenario, your friendship with Kareena Kapoor is refreshingly surprising. What’s so special about Kareena?
She is among very few actresses in the industry who never throws her weight around. She is practical and knows how to maintain relations with her loved ones. Needless to say she is very cooperative and has no starry air around her. We are and we will remain great buddies forever.

Is it true that you are more dedicated towards your love life rather than your career?
I think love is very important as it motivates you to climb further in your career. So giving importance to my love life means more motivation to career.

People say you are surviving in this industry only on sexy item numbers. What’s your take?
I don’t purposely choose sexy numbers but if my performances turn out to be hot and sensuous then I can’t help it. If people tag my item numbers as sexy then I’ll take it as a compliment. I enjoy every bit of my item numbers.

While Celina says she can carry off the sex bomb tag with élan, Amrita Arora feels embarrassing to be associated with such raunchy names. “It happened with me once. One guy called me an ‘Atom Bomb’. It is so embarrassing and offensive to be identified as Bombs and Patakhas. It’s like demeaning the identity of a woman. I don’t think it’s decent to relate women with such raunchy words. We are public figures but it doesn’t mean that one can call us anything,” retorts Arora.

But there is another hottie who wants to take Celina’s line of thinking. Mirchi girl Rakhi Sawant believes that she is the real bomb of Bollywood. “You have seen what happens when I perform. A bomb can’t create so much of dhamaka as my dance can. And this Diwali, I invite people to come and see my shows and they will realize how powerful I am. I love to be called an atom bomb because I am what I am known as,” quips Sawant.
