The 34-year-old singer says she wants to have a family before she is 40 and admits she would consider adoption.

She said: “I would definitely consider adoption, no question about it. Not today, but at some point in the future.”

“Ideally, I’d like to be married and starting a family before I’m 40, even though I don’t believe in the concept of marriage in the conventional sense.”

“But there is definitely virtue in committing to something and following it through.”

The “Ironic” hitmaker also revealed she is dating a lawyer – but refuses to name him.

She added: “My boyfriend since last summer is a lawyer. I’ve done the high-profile relationship thing and I’m a little shy of that now.”

“I don’t want to say who he is yet just for his sake – the poor guy’s life is going to turn around – so we want to drag it out while we are still getting to know each other.”

Alanis split with fiance Ryan Reynolds last February after two-and-a-half years together.

The Canadian pop singer plays Sylvia, a woman who shows up in the vision of a record label executive named Nick (Jonathan Scarfe) as a glamorous singer.

In reality, she’s an ordinary woman in unexpected remission from lymphoma who, after appearing in Nick’s visions, gets a job as his secretary. She becomes his soul mate thanks to the pair’s shared spirituality and visions.

“Radio” began filming this month in and around Los Angeles. Director John Alan Simon adapted the script from Dick’s 1976 novel, which was published posthumously in 1985. It was loosely based on his own experience with visions in the mid-’70s.

“I am a big fan of Philip K. Dick’s poetic and expansively imaginative books,” Morissette said. “I feel blessed to portray Sylvia, and to be part of this story being told in film.”

The Grammy-winning “You Oughta Know” singer guest-starred as a lesbian on three episodes of the FX plastic-surgery drama “Nip/Tuck” last year.

Actress Alicia Silverstone plans to give singer Alanis Morissette ‘a hard time’ when they run into each other the next time.
As for why she plans to do this, well that’s because the singer ignored Silverstone’s fanmail.

The ‘Clueless’ star shared how she admired Morissette in the letter and felt disappointed when the singer did not respond.

“I wrote Alanis Morissette a fan letter telling her how I loved her music and even mentioning the name of our mutual friend. I never heard back. She could have written or called me,” Contactmusic quoted Silverstone, as telling the New York Daily News.

“Alanis must’ve just lumped me in with her fans or thought I was some stalker. When I see her I plan to give her a hard time,” she added.

Alanis Morissette has been sent a butt-shaped cake by Fergie.

The Canadian singer has recorded a moody, down-beat version of the Black Eyed Peas’ hit “My Humps” and the video – in which she dresses up as Fergie and shakes her “hump” before beating up gangster-style men – has become a You Tube sensation.

Fergie thinks the song and promo are hilarious and wanted to show Alanis her appreciation with the rude calorific treat.

A source said: “Fergie thought the video was brilliant. She sent Alanis a cake in the shape of a derriere.”

Rosa Leung, 52, of Los Angeles bakery Exotic Cakes, who created the unusual treat, said: “A note on the flesh-colored cake read, ‘Alanis, you’re a genius. Love, Fergie.’”

The bakery delivered the cake to Alanis last Friday (April 6, 2007).
