Carmen, Kim Get Funny In “Disaster Movie”

Carmen Electra

It may not knock down box-office records like “The Dark Knight” or generate buzz like “Indiana Jones 4,” but there’s no disputing “Disaster Movie” is the “hottest” movie of the summer.

The comedy about a group of good-looking twentysomethings trying to survive a succession of natural disasters boasts a bevy of beauties that includes Vanessa Minnillo, Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian. But the actresses insist there’s a lot more than meets the eye when playing a bimbo in a genre spoof.

Here’s their recipe for on-screen cheesecake:

Play it straight

The role of the lead actress in comedies like “Disaster Movie” is to be oblivious to the ridiculous scenarios that are unfolding around her. Leave the best lines and the pratfalls to the professional comedians in the cast. Instead, look pouty whenever possible.

“It’s hard to do it when you’re on a set where everyone’s giggling and throwing stuff and making jokes,” says Minnillo of her first film role. “I’m like, ‘Okay, stop, I have to seriously think here. I’m breaking up with my boyfriend. Give me a minute.’

“And it’s comedy,” she adds. “Can you imagine if I get a serious, dramatic role?”

Cue the gratuitous catfight

Forget James Bond fisticuffs and light-saber battles. There is no more exciting throw-down on the big screen than a pair of sexpots grappling with each other and tearing at their skimpy outfits. Exhibit A is “Disaster Movie’s” epic wrestling match between leather-bodice wearing Kardashian and Electra.

“Getting a chance to pull Kim Kardashian’s hair and throw her around in a wrestling ring is really cool, so I can’t complain,” says Electra. “I think we both had some scratches and bruises and marks from throwing each other in the ring. We definitely both got into it.”

Meoww!

Develop tough skin

A lot of the parody will come at the actress’ expense, so Kardashian told The News the trick is not to take anything too seriously. She knew, for example, that castmate Nicole Parker had parodied her in a “MADtv” skit.

While the movie was being shot, “[Parker] was so afraid that I was going to find out, and I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable,” says Kardashian. “Now, I can’t wait to run into her and tell her, ‘I know it was you.’ ”

Hmmm. Perhaps there’s another catfight in the making for the sequel.

Look darn sexy, of course

Let’s face it, none of the three actresses were hired for their Oscar pedigree. They are among the most desirable women on the planet, especially to the young male audiences that are likely to flock to “Disaster Movie.” And there’s nothing wrong with that, says Electra.

“I’m actually going to have to deal with someday not being cast in these roles,” says Electra, who’s been in several spoof comedies, including 2006’s “Scary Movie 4.”
