Anna Nicole Smith Emergency Tape Call Released
As more and more details surrounding the life and death of Anna Nicole Smith make their way to the public, the circumstances around the former Playboy Playmate’s death, as well as who might be the father of Anna Nicole’s infant daughter, Dannielynn, have been mysterious at best. Now, the public is getting a glimpse into Anna Nicole Smith’s final moments, as a tape recording of a call from an Indian tribe’s police department requesting paramedics was released on Tuesday.
The phone call, a 31-second call between the Seminole tribal police department and the Hollywood Police Department illustrates that the Seminole police force needed Hollywood paramedics to assist Anna Nicole Smith, who had been found unconscious in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on the Seminole reservation. The Associated Press printed a transcript of the phone call, which heard a woman from the Seminole Police asking for help in Room 607. “She’s not breathing, and she’s not responsive. She’s, um, actually Anna Nicole Smith,” said the Seminole police officer. A woman at the Hollywood Police Department replied with, “Oh, OK.”
The Associated Press quoted officials who said they managed to respond to the call in just six minutes. Anna Nicole Smith would be pronounced dead roughly one hour later at Memorial Regional Hospital three miles away. Though Hollywood Police Dept. Tony Rode played the tape for the media to hear, he referred all questions about the Anna Nicole Smith case to the Seminole Police Department, which did not immediately return a call for a statement. The Associated Press quoted Capt. Rode, who said, “This investigation belongs to the Seminole Police Department. You are looking at the extent of our role.”
As the saga of Anna Nicole Smith continues to play out, Smith’s boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, has been the focus of a large amount of media attention. While Stern’s comments to the media have been few and far between, Howard Stern’s sister, Bonnie Stern, has spoken to the press on his behalf. Stern said her brother was not with Anna Nicole Smith when she said, but he had been there earlier in the morning. At the time, Anna Nicole Smith was running a 105 degree fever, and a nurse had been “icing her down” earlier in the day, AP reports. Bonnie Stern went on to say that, “When he left her, she was sleeping.” Stern had only left Anna Nicole Smith’s side for around two hours when he received word that Smith was dead. While Howard K. Stern has not spoken to the media, Bonnie Stern revealed to the Associated Press that, “They had plans to get a yacht and to buy an engagement ring. They were going to get married Feb. 27. It was going to be a real marriage.”
Bonnie Stern also offered her opinion on what killed Anna Nicole Smith. “Her immunity was so low. She was so depressed. She kept getting sick and her body just probably broke down.” As Bonnie Stern offered that opinion, Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper quoted women’s health specialist Dr. Sarah Jarvis, who said, “To take so many different drugs is unhealthy. Some anti-depressants can cause heart problems after surgery. Valium can cause respiratory problems. If an unfit person has surgery and takes drugs, it’s possible they would have complications,” referring to the plastic surgery operations she had after giving birth to five-month-old Dannielynn. But while today’s focus has been on the cause of Anna Nicole Smith’s death, yet another suitor as come forward to claim that he had an affair with Anna Nicole Smith and that he may be the father of young Dannielynn.
Alexander Denk, a man who had served as bodyguard to Anna Nicole Smith, told to television show Extra that he had an affair with Smith and that there is a chance he is the father of Dannielynn. Denk was quoted by the British publication Metro as telling Extra, “She always told me she wanted to have her kids with me,” adding that there was “always a possibility” has was the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter. Mean, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor, said he will file a paternity challenge to gain custody of Dannielynn, even if it costs his marriage with Zsa Zsa Gabor. “If the court rules in my favor, I will go to the Bahamas and pick up the child,” though Von Anhalt said he would ask for a DNA test.
While former lovers and new potential fathers of Dannielynn Stern make their way out of the woodwork, the two original potential fathers, Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead, continue to have a war of words. Larry Birkhead told the Daily News that, “Howard has never liked me and he never wanted me and Anna to be together. After she got pregnant, things went quickly downhill because of his difference of opinion on several matters.” Birkhead also recalled how he had tried to save Anna Nicole Smith from a self-destructive lifestyle, and that Anna Nicole left him because of his attempts to intervene. “I watched over her to make sure she was safe, and once I was basically pushed to the side, “I had no control over what she did or anyone else around her did.”
Bonnie Stern fired back on behalf of her brother, saying that “there were times of some intimacy,” but that, “Larry Birkhead was not her boyfriend.”
